The Virginia Public Access Project (VPAP), established in 1997, aims to enhance political transparency by providing Virginians with access to public documents related to the financial aspects of politics. Over the years, VPAP has expanded its services to include valuable resources such as state and local government information, data visualizations, election night results and analysis, lobbyist registrations and disclosures, General Assembly member demographics, legislative votes, and in-depth analysis. Additionally, VPAP offers VaNews, a daily aggregation of state and local political and government news. Recently, VPAP has also begun providing resources for civics education across the Commonwealth, including tools like a district map to help residents understand their representation.
